FUCK YEAH we love women. You didn’t think we’d let International Women’s Day go by without celebrating amazing women, did you? Good.
It’s been a bloody tough year for creators and creatives – most of the Arts and Creative industries experienced total shutdowns and minimal support through multiple lockdowns and layers of restrictions designed to contain covid. So, we wanted to take today to give a shout-out to some of our favourites. Follow them, engage with them, buy their shit. Support them however you can ❤️
Lara Hacker – illustrator best known as Kieferngrün
If you follow any of the Boshemia founders, you’ll know that we are collectively obsessed with Lara’s work. It’s so charming and escapist, and the creatures she illustrates are just so freakin cute. Her online shop opened last month and, having purchased multiple prints, we can totally vouch for how gorgeous they are IRL.
Lauren Elizabeth – Folklaur’s debut EP, Flight
One of our own! Lauren is one of our chief designers for Boshemia Magazine. When she’s not designing stunning spreads, she’s making sweet, sweet music. She recently released her first EP, Flight.
Flight is a labor of love and grief, produced over eighteen months in-person or across the distance. These songs are not only a product, but a process through which siblings Lauren Elizabeth (Amrhein) and Justin Scott (Amrhein) found catharsis and closeness during a year of personal loss.
Mia Winston-Hart – jewellery maker and workshop teacher at Domestika
Mia is a total powerhouse and makes the MOST beautiful hand-made jewellery and accessories in her little Southampton studio. She also teaches workshops and courses in resin making at Domestika. She too recently launched her online shop, and takes custom commissions as well as selling premade designs.
Be Kind Rewind - Video Essayist / Youtuber
Much like Ms Moira Rose, my favourite season is awards. Not necessarily because the Oscars etc are always accurate, but because cinema is a wonderful reflection of society, and the awards are a reflection of what society deems appropriate. Be Kind Rewind creates video essays on Best Actresses; who won, why they won and what that say’s about Hollywood at the time. She’s recently started making even more long-form essays about films she likes, famous “feuds,” and the iconic film Mommie Dearest.
Becky J Invitations
Another Boshemia homegrown talent, our head designer Becky runs a business designing gorgeous invitations. If you’ve got a wedding, baby, birthday, or honestly any fancy or significant event that necessitates invites coming up, Becky’s your gal. Her designs are so dreamy.

ModernGurlz - Video Essayist and Youtuber
I’ve never seen The Winx Club, and have no emotional attachment to it, but thanks to ModernGurlz, I’m furious about the reboot and the tragic fashion choices. ModernGurlz is a shameless celebration of all things girly; chick flicks, fashion trends and even Barbie Movies, ModernGurlz has a look at nostalgic content from the ‘00s with a loving eye.
